My 2nd and 3rd grade teacher at Deepwater Elementary. Miss Goins in 2nd and Mrs. Ball in 3rd. She had a massive impact in my life. In 3rd grade I messed around and didn't do what I was capable of doing. When I got my report card, it said retained. Of course I cried. Mrs. Ball called me to her desk and said she knew I was capable. She changed the report card to promoted to 4th on trial. She saw something in me I didn't even see. I made straight A's in 4th grade and never looked back. I went on to go to college and earn a Masters Degree. I retired as an elementary educator with 34 years experience. I only hope that I impacted some of my students like she impacted me.
Prayers to the family.
