Rupert Orvil Parker, age 93 of Oak Hill WV passed away, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Beckley VA Medical Center.
Orvil was born on January 13, 1927 in Gatewood, WV to Rupert Cyrus Parker and Mary Zoe Jones-Parker.
He was a water plant operator at WV-American Water Co for 35 years and a Private first class in the US Army serving in WWII.
Orvil was a member of Gatewood Church of God, a musician, woodworker and collector of Native American artifacts.
As well as his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Dewey, Winfred, Ruth, Thelma, Beulah, Eleanor and grandson Michael Johns.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 71 years, Josephine Parker, children Tania and William Sheaves, Joanna and Lee Gupton, Wayne Parker and Daniel and Diane Parker, 10 grandchildren, 28 great and great-great-grandchildren plus brother Alfred Parker and his wife Fonda, who just happens to be Josephine’s sister..
Services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020 at Gatewood Church of God with Jackie Pittman of Gatewood Church of God officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Gatewood.
Friends may call Tuesday from 12 Noon until time of Services at the church.
Pall Bearers will be Josh Sapio, Bryson Sapio, Zachary McCarthy, Tyler Bragg, Jay Frigon and Samuel Frigon
