Obituary for Rudell Bloomfield

Pastor Rudell Bloomfield of Mountain View Church of God passed away Sunday morning, October 31, 2021, after a long illness. He was born in Broadhead, Kentucky on March 25, 1942, the son of Reverend Willard L. Bloomfield and Elizabeth Moore Bloomfield.
He graduated from Man High School and attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. After completing his education he came to West Virginia and served as an evangelist, before accepting pastorates in Verdunville and Ravenswood, West Virginia. He was appointed pastor in Oak Hill in 1974, where he recently completed 47 years.
He served on the West Virginia Church of God State Council for many years, as well as other boards and committees. He was honored to be an ordained bishop in the Church of God from a young age, but his preferred title always was Pastor. He had a heart for his people and would go to any lengths to assist them and meet their needs.

Pastor Bloomfield and wife, Audrey opened their home to children and young people and became second parents to many. Pastor was active in the community, coaching baseball and attending other sporting events with his family. Many friendships were forged at the ball park, sometimes leading friends to Christ by his kind and gentle spirit.
Pastor Bloomfield loved children, and the focus of his ministry was to build strong families. His concern for Christian education led him and Audrey to establish Mountain View Christian School in 1981, one of their proudest accomplishments.

Best known for his passionate teaching of the Word, He delighted in opening the scriptures and expounding on the truths of the Gospel. He was well known for his radio and TV ministry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leonard Bloomfield and sister, Rosemary Hanson.

He is survived by his sisters, Wanda Tomlinson, Shirley Flick, and Darlene Garrett of Hamilton, Ohio, Jeanette Davidson of Sarasota, Florida, and Charlene Ayers of Orlando, Florida.

Pastor Bloomfield’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by the love of his life, Audrey (Allred) Bloomfield, who worked in ministry by his side; daughter Angela McGrady, of Oak Hill; son Russell (Mandy) of Shady Spring; son Mark (Amy) of Oak Hill; grandchildren Erin McGrady, Derek Bloomfield, Mercedes Bloomfield, Nathan Bloomfield, Bristol Bloomfield, and Kendall Bloomfield. The highlight of his week was the Sunday dinners they all enjoyed together. His family takes comfort in knowing that the blessing of God on his life did not die with him, but God continues to favor his children and grandchildren.

One of Pastor’s last desires was to establish a foundation to support Mountain View Christian School, and his children, Angie, Russell, and Mark will establish this in his honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Rudell Bloomfield Foundation for Christian Education, 107 Rogers Street, Oak Hill, WV 25901.
As a family we especially want to thank our Mountain View Family. For 47 years you have stood with your Pastor and cared for our family. Through the good and joyous times you were there, as well as in his sickness. We love you all. Scott Tolman, thank you for being our driver and helper at every appointment.
We also want to thank Bowers Hospice House and the special people there, especially his sweet nurse and our friend Becky Reichert.

High Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Service will be Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Mountain View Church of God at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m
