Obituary for Robert Theodore Ellis Jr.

Robert Theodore Ellis, Jr., 71, of Oak Hill, WV, passed away September 19, 2022 in his home. Bob was born on December 1, 1950 in Welch, WV to Robert T. Ellis, Sr. and Jamie Ree Arnold Ellis. He was a graduate of Marshall University and served our nation in the U.S. Navy, while becoming a veteran.

In his younger years, Bob was a faithful employee of Radio Shack and Staples, but most of his career was spent serving the customers of Walmart in Summersville and Fayetteville. He retired from Walmart in 2020 where he made precious friends and lasting relationships.

He attended First Assembly of God for many years and later attended Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Bob was an avid Marshall football fan, but still often rooted for WVU, and deeply reminisced the days of his Miami Dolphins and their undefeated season. He was a movie enthusiast, namely 007 and Star Trek! His favorite vacation location was Myrtle Beach, SC and he would have moved there in a heartbeat! Above all, Bob was an amazing cook! He enjoyed grilling and preparing meals for his family, especially for his pride and joy…his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and other family members.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Goldie Parker Ellis, his daughter Lindsay Ellis of WV, daughter Chasity Higginbotham (Jason) of Glen Jean, step-son Bobby Knight (Stacey) of Jumping Branch, and step-son Bryan Knight (Megan) of Beckley. He had 8 grandchildren: Brayden Knight, Chase Higginbotham, Cessa Higginbotham, Makaila Knight, Aaron Higginbotham, Alyssa Higginbotham, Jonathan Higginbotham and Elizabeth Knight.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 – “And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”

“Please God, give my Dad the most wonderful beach that heaven has. Make sure it has the perfect cool breeze with the warmth of the sun against his face. May the sand not be too hot on his feet as he walks the shores, listening to the waves crash. I pray that you send me a glimpse of his smile every now and again in my dreams!” ~ Chasity

A memorial service will be held at the Oak Hill Baptist Church at a later date.

High Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
