Obituary for Mary G. Crookshanks Smith
Mary G. Crookshanks Smith, 91, of Lookout WV, went to her heavenly home on Monday, March 27, 2023. Mary was born on December 09, 1933, at Lookout, WV, to the late Austin Ott Crookshanks and Katherine Ann Crookshanks.
The Bible tells us that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We know all of heaven greeted our Mama, and she is praising our Lord and Savior, Jesus.
She started her career as a CNA and then LPN and advanced her education to a Bachelor of science in nursing. She was educated, loved learning and caring for patients, and retired from the Veterans Administration. Mary loved her family and enjoyed her life. She always said she wanted to live until the day she died, and she did just that. She was a young 91 and enjoyed her independence.
She was an avid reader. She enjoyed quilting, stained glass, and living back in her home place.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin C. Smith, son Billy Jo Smith, brothers John Crookshanks, Austin Crookshanks, sisters Annabel Heslep, Olivia Howard, Elizabeth Jones, and Ruth Sharp.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Michael Allen Smith (Patricia), daughter Debbie Herbaugh( Kevin), grandchildren Katie Robinson and Jessica Herbaugh, great-grandchildren Kinzley, Riley, Landon, and Harper, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on April 1, 2023, at the Lookout Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Bennett officiating.
A reception following the service will be held at the church for family and friends to gather and share memories of Mary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lookout Baptist Church in memory of Mary.
