Obituary for Mary "June" Alexander

Mary June Alexander, lovingly known to many as “Granny”, 86 of Oak Hill passed peacefully into His arms on Monday, December 26th, 2022. June was born on July 25th, 1936, in Clay West Virginia. One of seven children of W.L. Jeffers and Lola Workman Jeffers.

June was a 1954 graduate of Collins High School and was a dedicated employee of the Cabot Gas Company for 37 years until her retirement in 2001. June loved to quilt and enjoyed working in her flower gardens, but her lifelong passion for her Lord Jesus Christ shined bright above all. June ministered through song and music from the time she could balance on a stool at the age of three. She was devoted to the Jones Avenue Church of God and her church family across the country. June was a member of the choir, Sounds of Joy, and various ministries of the church throughout her entire life. As a member of the Singtime Quartet with Don by her side, she traveled and ministered to many across the country for over 50 years. Craigsville Camp meeting meant a great deal to June, and she worked tirelessly alongside her dear friends right up until health issues hampered her efforts in 2014. The effects of June's passion for ministry through song, her love, and the light she shined are still rippling, a legacy that will not be soon forgotten to be sure.

June loved to laugh, loved her family, and loved to open her home to anyone who had a need. She warmly added to her family every chance she could.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, and singing partner of 68 years, Don Alexander, children, Greg Alexander (Tammie), Steve Alexander, Tammi Richardson (Keith), grandchildren, Melody Britenbucher (Chris), Marques Alexander (Stephanie), Steve Alexander Jr., Jonathan Alexander, Alex Richardson (Mark), a host of great grand and great-great-grandchildren, her sisters, Violet Treadway, and Karen Jeffers, many cherished nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and her beloved church family.

We will celebrate the life of June on Saturday, December 31st, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at the Jones Avenue Church of God with Brother Kevin Shelton officiating, joined by Pastor Mike Hicks and Sister Pat Franklin.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 A.M – 1:00 P.M. preceding the celebration.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Craigsville Camp Meeting at 1039 Summerlee Ave., Oak Hill, WV 25901 would be greatly appreciated.

High Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
