Obituary for Marvin E. Partain

Marvin E. Partain, 95, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020. He was born in 1925 in Cullman, Alabama to Marvin C. Partain and Lellon (Day) Partain. The family moved to Fayette County a few years later, where he lived most of his life. After graduating from Oak Hill High School in 1943, he joined the Navy and served during WWII in the Pacific as a radio operator. A year after returning home from serving our country, he married his sweetheart, Courtney Thompson. Marvin was a coal miner, was in the financial services market, and even tried his hand in auto sales. He started a Furniture business with his dear friend Roy Lee called Lee’s Furniture. His passions included NASCAR, traveling, boating, waterskiing, and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter Sherry Campesi and her husband Joe, his sister Betty Carmichael, sister in-law Betty Partain, grandsons Kevin and Frank, and 4 great-grandchildren: Kevin, Patrick, Lauren, and Bonnie.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at High Lawn Memorial Park.
