On Friday November 13, 2020, Marvin E. Partain, passed away at age 95.

He was born in 1925 in Cullman, Alabama to Marvin C Partain and Lellon (Day) Partain. The family moved to Fayette County a few years later, where he lived most of his life. After graduating from Oak Hill High School in 1943, he joined the Navy and served during WWII in the Pacific as a radio operator. A year after returning home from serving our country, he married his sweetheart Courtney Thompson. He was a coal miner, was in the financial services market, and even tried his hand in auto sales. He started a Furniture business with his dear friend Roy Lee called Lee’s Furniture. His passions included NASCAR, traveling, boating, waterskiing, and fishing.

He is survived by his daughter Sherry Campesi and her husband Joe, his sister Betty Carmichael, sister in-law Betty Partain, grandsons Kevin and Frank, and 4 great-grandchildren: Kevin, Patrick, Lauren, and Bonnie.

Due to COVID there will be a memorial service held in the Spring.

My sincere condolences for your loss. I was privileged to meet Marvin a few years back when he and my Dad reconnected after 50+ years. He and Marvin were both Radiomen in the Navy during WWII and were stationed together in Hawaii. I loved hearing their stories. Marvin and I continued to communicate after my Dad's death in 2012. I always enjoyed hearing his wonderful West Virginia drawl and reminiscing with him. He was such a kind man, and I will miss him.
