Obituary for Josephine Alice Evans Butcher (LaRocco)

Josephine Evans Butcher, 73, of Oak Hill, WV passed away December 30, 2020 at home after a long illness. She went peacefully in her sleep with her devoted husband Dave Butcher, her loving daughter LaVon Butcher, and friend/caregiver Karen Dempsey by her side.
Jo was the daughter of the late Nick LaRocco Sr. and the late Mary Gill LaRocco of Oak Hill.
Jo is preceded in death by her brother Nick LaRocco Jr. of Oak Hill and her brother in law Mick Adkins of Oak Hill.
Those left to cherish her memory include her soul mate Dave Butcher, daughter LaVon Evans Butcher of Oak Hill, stepson Jason Butcher of Iowa, sister Marlene Adkins of Oak Hill, brother James "Bo" LaRocco (Pat LaRocco) of Oak Hill, granddaughter Hannah Butcher Coalson (Shane Coalson) and great granddaughter Grace Coalson of Princeton, WV, granddaughters Deborah Butcher & Mary Butcher of Oak Hill, WV and Jeff Evans of Charleston, WV (a brother in law she loved like a son), Karen Dempsey of Oak Hill (friend/ caregiver). And so many more family and friends. She will definitely be missed by all who knew her.
Jo had a 40 year career in Radiology Technology. She began her career at Montgomery Hospital and Fayette Clinic. She worked many years at Clay County Health Department, not only as an X-ray Tech, but as a dental assistant and a medical assistant. Jo entered into women’s imaging at Professional Medical Ultrasonics alongside the late Dr. Robert Pulliam. Early detection in women’s health became her passion. She enjoyed her patients, never meeting a stranger, while providing them with the best patient care.
Jo had a smile that lit up the room, a laugh that was unforgettable, and determination like no other.

Arrangements provided by High Lawn Funeral Home. Services will be at Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene, 1913 Main St. E, Oak Hill, WV 25901 on Tuesday January 5th. 11:30a family / 12:00p visitation / 1:00p service with Pastor Bob Meadows officiating. Graveside service following at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. In keeping with Covid-19 restrictions masks must be worn and social distancing will be practiced.
