Obituary for Johnny Wayne Butler

Johnny Wayne Butler, 61, of Oak Hill, WV, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Plateau Medical Center. Johnny was born on May 19, 1960, in Oak Hill, WV.

Johnny was a 1978 graduate of Oak Hill High School. Johnny was an electrical lineman at Rader Line Co., Inc., where he worked faithfully from 1979 to 2011. Johnny loved his family, especially his mom and dad. He had a very generous heart. He loved his job and telling stories about building power lines. Johnny had an art in storytelling. He could tell you something that happened years ago with great detail. He also loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. Johnny attended Oak Hill Gospel Tabernacle. He had many friends and people there who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Mamie and Michael Protka. His grandparents, Maybell Butler and Hansford Martin and Juanita and Cecil Rader. His brother, Gregory Rader. Cousins Zachary Martin and Larry Davis. Uncles Gary Martin,Bill Rader, Curt Perdue, Ray Davis and Aunts Connie Phillips, Cecilia Davis, Carol Perdue, and Dorothy Owens.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his mother and father, Janet and Bobby Rader; sister, Kimberly Rader; sister-in-law Gail Rader, daughter, Leah Campbell; stepsons, Andy and Ricky Malay. His granddaughter, Kaitlyn Justice (Levi); grandson Jay Scarborough (Candi); great grandchildren Brantley Justice and Chloe Scarborough; best friend, Carl "Rowdy" Spearen; his cat Doodlebug, who was a faithful companion; many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

In keeping with Johnny’s wishes, he will be cremated.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Mountain View Church of God in Hilltop with Pastor Bill Harmon of Oak Hill officiating.

Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
