Obituary for Howard Jennings "Red" McKinney

Howard “Red” Jennings McKinney, age 92 of Midway, WV passed away, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, in Beckley, WV. Howard was born on December 30th, 1928, in Soak Creek, WV to parents Howard and Phoebe (Rupe) McKinney.
Howard was an equipment operator and coal truck driver at Slab Fork Coal Company and a Corporal Rank, as an Army Ranger and the 101st Airborne Division Branch serving in the Korean War.
Red enjoyed hanging out at Pro Tint in Sophia, his grandson Kevin’s business where his great-grandsons Shawn and Tyler worked as well as his great-granddaughter Haley. He enjoyed talking with customers and telling stories from many years past. Three people he always looked forward to talking to were Jerry Piercy, Dave Pittman, and Rob Riffe.
He was preceded in Death by: His parents Howard and Pheobe (Rupe) McKinney, brother Paul McKinney, sister Geraldine Bolen, and his loving wife of 57 years Elva McKinney.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Debbie McKinney, grandson Kevin and his wife Anita and their five children, Shawn, Tyler, Haley, Michael, and Kimber. Grandson Jeff and his wife Dottie and their children, Amy, Thomas, and Chad.
In keeping with Howard's wish, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
