Obituary for Harry Wayne Layton

Harry Wayne Layton, 78 gained his wings as he ascended into heaven October 12, 2021, with his family by his side at his home in Fayetteville WV.
Born February 25, 1943, in Charleston WV, he was the son of the late Harry Layton Sr. and Phoebe (Fridley) Layton. Harry was a proud Veteran of the US Army having served as a General Supply Specialist. Upon moving to Cleveland OH became a Hammerman for the Ford Motor Company.
Harry was a humbling soul with a knack for all things technical. He could fix almost anything and if he couldn’t, knew someone that could. Harry loved all his family in its entirety. With his ability to befriend a stranger within a matter of minutes, you would end up feeling as if you knew him your whole life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Frances (Bunch) Layton, sister Phyllis Layton, and brother Ray Layton.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters Lisa R Payne (John) and Melissa Hicks (Billy); stepson C. Raymond Ratliff; seven grandchildren, Tosha McMillian (Corey), Zac Crawford (Courtney), Jeffery Layton (Brittany), Brandon Layton (Christina), Johnee Beth Carter (Aaron), Francesco Layton, Donte Layton (Dinah); Twelve great grandchildren, Ricky, Kennedy, Maci, Brayleigh, Finnley, Skylar, Vincent, Gracyn, Carolina, Ace, Octavia, Rowen; brothers Roy (Joyce) and Danny (Linda); sisters Marilyn (Bernard) and Shirley (Randy); two god sons Brian and Bradley Pudder; and two very special friends, Sharon Pittman and Wayne Jennings; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In following with Harry’s wishes he will be cremated. No services are scheduled at this time.
