Obituary for Eugene Richard Wallace Jr.

Eugene Richard “Doc” Wallace, Jr., PhD, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, following a short illness. Wallace is survived by his son, Michael John, of Charlton Heights, and three grandchildren: Ariel Wallace, Sera Keeney-Wallace, Edward Keeney-Wallace. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Richard, Sr., and Georgia Dummitt, and two sons: Steven and Andrew.
An Episcopalian by faith, “Doc” made a lifelong study of eastern religions and martial arts, becoming a specialist in Reiki, and earning a 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. His eclectic interests included eastern medicine, electronics, country music, films, and his Christian faith. Known to his friends as “Doc,” Wallace was a well-known TV and radio personality in the region, hosting numerous radio broadcasts, and serving as a recording engineer for a variety of local artists.
He was proudest of his educational accomplishments. A member of the Greenbrier Military Academy Class of 1965, Wallace went on to earn degrees in Industrial Management (BS, WV Tech), Industrial Engineering (MS, WVU), Psychology and Psychoneuroimmunology (MA, UHS), and Integral Human Studies (PhD, California Institute for Human Sciences), and was a long-time member of Mensa International.
A private burial will be held at Highlawn Memorial Park, where Wallace will be laid to rest with his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia in his honor.
