Obituary for Ernest Clinton Durham

Ernest Clinton Durham, better yet known as Ernie, was called home by the lord at his home surrounded by his family in the early morning hours of July 22, 2022. Ernie, 53, was born on October 12, 1968, in Nitro, West Virginia but grew up in Raleigh County in the city of Beckley for most of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Barbara Durham who were residents of the Beckley community. Ernie, however, will be leaving behind the love of his life of 25 years, Tammy Melvin Durham of Ballard, West Virginia whom he selflessly loved and cared about even during the last moments of his life. He will also be leaving behind four sons: Benny Dolecki of Oakvale, WV, and girlfriend Alyssa Murphy, Adam Durham of Ballard, WV, and Brett and Dustin Durham both of Indianapolis, Indiana. Including the family Ernie loved and fathered, he will also be missed by the ones he grew up with himself, brother George Durham and wife Adra and sister Tammy Redden and companion CD Ferrell, all of Beckley, West Virginia.
Ernie worked as Shoney’s District Manager in Southern West Virginia for 30 years before going to work for English Construction for the last nine years until his diagnosis. In Ernie’s spare time he enjoyed going on vacationing cruises, as he loved being around the ocean. Ernie also enjoyed spending time with his work buddies outdoors when they could get together. However, if it was a Sunday during the Fall, you can guarantee no matter where or what Ernie may have been doing, he was cheering on his Kansas City Chiefs as he has been a lifelong Chiefs fan. Ernie would also be cheering on number 18 anytime you heard “Gentleman, start your engines,” as Kyle Bush was his favorite NASCAR driver. To honor Ernie’s final wishes the High Lawn Funeral Chapel of Oak Hill, West Virginia will be serving the Durham family.
Ernie asked that a celebration of his life would consist of his family and friends gathering at his home in Ballard, West Virginia on July 30th, 2022 starting at 1:00 pm and for all to wear the red and yellow colors of the Kansas City Chiefs that he always cheered for, to celebrate his heavenly healing.
