Obituary for Daniel Lee "Danny" Collins Jr.
Daniel Lee “Danny” Collins Jr., 58, of Beckley, WV passed away Friday September 24, 2021 at Raleigh General Hospital. Danny was born July 29, 1963 in Oak Hill, WV to Daniel Collins and Betty Martin Toombs.
Danny loved everyone and never met a stranger. He was an avid WVU Mountaineer football and Pittsburgh Steelers fan who also enjoyed watching wrestling and listening to music. He loved spending time with his sister, brother-in-law, nephew and niece and enjoyed going to Burger King to get his pie.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandmother Kathern Martin, grandfather Toy Martin, his aunts and uncles Elizabeth Helmick, Toy Martin Jr., Robert Martin, Bill Martin, Carol Roberts, Eddie Martin, Richard Martin, Roger “Rawhide” Martin and several cousins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister Stephanie Collins-Ruger and husband Paul, nephew Shannon Collins and niece Taylor "his Baby" Collins-Ruger, aunts and uncles Shirley Pauley (Buddy), James “Jim” Martin, Ruth Thomas, Linda Leffell, Deborah Martin Aliff, Mike Martin (Neva), John Martin (Cheryl), special roommates Duane and Michael and his extended family at R.E.M.
Services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, September 30th at High Lawn Funeral Home with cremation to follow. The family requests the everyone wear either WVU attire or blue and gold attire.
Friends may call from 11:00 Noon until time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the funeral home, but please make checks out to Fayette County Special Olympics, FCSO or you can call Kathy the Fayette Co. chapter coordinator at 304-574-4844.
