Carl Roger Thompson, 76, of Scarbro, WV, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. “Roger” was born on October 10, 1946, in Beckley, WV, to Clara Martin Thompson and the late Carl Thompson.
“Roger” was a surface miner, mechanic, and worked for Hightower Welding at the summit in Mt. Hope, WV, where he loved working. He was a member of the UMWA Local 9177 District 17 and attended the Mt. Hope Wesleyan Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Betty Hornsby Thompson; sons Jay Hornsby (Sabrina), Roger “Rogie” Thompson (Heather), Steve Thompson and Paul Thompson; mother Clara Thompson; sisters Drema Pike (William) and Brenda Munsey (Benny); brother Kenneth Thompson (Bonnie); grandchildren Logan (Kaela) Hornsby, Jacob Hornsby, Abrahm Thompson and great granddaughter Oakley Hornsby.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Pauley officiating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Logan Hornsby, Jacob Hornsby, Jay Hornsby, Jess Bolen, Roger Thompson, and Glenn Coleman.
